Australia's Opposition Leader, Anthony Albanese, made some insightful points on March 10, 2020, about Australia's future submarines acquisition. This was 20:30 into a speech here and above through to 25:28, to the Lowy Institute (a major Australian national security policy think-tank).
In the Question and Answer Session following the speech at 54:12 Albanese is asked more specific
questions, by the compere, about the AUKUS nuclear submarine program challenge.
Then at 1:03:22 Albanese is asked, by an audience member, about the unique value of nuclear submarines given Australia’s long range circumstances.
Overall Albanese comes across as a well briefed, articulate, alternative Prime Minister, on national security issues. This is in the context of Australia's next federal election which may well be held on May 21, 2022.
