This paper do not reflect the relaity facing Russian subs against Soviet subs. In the former time, they were mass producing, because of a very low level of reliability.
Today, with lesse submarines, they have to maintain a higher level of reliability to sustain a so called equivalent operational activity.
Which is a revolution not yet completely achieved by the Russian shipyards ...
