Japanese Postwar Submarines: H I Sutton's Youtube

H I Sutton has produced an excellent Youtube above and here concerning Japan's Postwar Submarines. Its very current, dated 16, 2021.

Some of its major strengths include comments on the shape of each submarine class and how many were built.

Another strength, seen 12:14 in, is grouping the different classes into categories.

---------------------------------------------

Separately see Submarine Matters' Updated History and Photos of Japanese Submarines After WWII dated January 17, 2015. This contains the the graph below.

As the graph is dated 2015 it doesn't include the latest class - the Taigeis.

close to textbook example of how to keep R&D production lines 'warm' always...one boat a year at least and the next generation made ready halfway through the current series production.

I wish India learned this lesson with the SSKs back in the 1980s...

PS: The chinese are kinda out of scope for this discussion given their fiendish pace and equally fiendish objectives....
