That the wife of Australia's Prime Minister is Honorary President of the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce has no bearing on Prime Ministerial or Defence Department decision making for what is Australia's largest defence acquistion competition. Germany is one of the three competitors.
Large German company ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) is offering the Type 216 submarine to Australia. "ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems Australia Pty Ltd" is listed as a Member of the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce in its "Member Directory" (see under "T" or "Thyssen" http://australien.ahk.de/en/members/member-directory/?no_cache=1 ).
There is no evident concern from the other two competitors (Japan and France) in the multi $Billion Australia future submarine (Project SEA 1000) contest.
It is unclear whether office holders have similar roles in any Australian-France or Australian-Japanese Chambers of Commerce.
Perhaps TKMS has already won, or lost, anyway?

Maybe, P-75I is already scrapped, and unofficially this order already given to French.
Maybe in offset to this, French are helping in 2500-3000 tonne hunter killer SSN using scorpene hull. French and American help also required in circular Sonars, instead of cylindrical sonar right now exist in INS Arihant.

Yes I noticed http://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/4-More-French-Submarines-to-Meet-Indian-Navy%E2%80%99s-Requirement/2015/10/06/article3064871.ece . I did not know whether it was official policy or an Indian buying tactic to get a better deal from non-French vendoes for Project-75(I for India).
Certainly it will confuse Project-75(I). Also France and DRDO have no matured second generation AIP while Sweden (offering A26) and TKMS (214) have mature second generation AIP.
Yes France would likely be offering technology from its 2500-3000 tonne Rubis SSN and future Barracuda SSN. I don't know about US

Hi Pete,
I think the rationale for the additional Scorpenes as stated by the Indian Defence Minister was to ensure that Mazagon Docks, the builder, doesn't lose its expertise yet again. I've heard (off the record), that sections of the Indian Navy establishment resent the impact that HDW bribery scandal had on the Indian Navy. While India could have had the largest fleet of reliable Type-209 boats, its stuck with only 4 and had to resort to the Russian Kilo (not particularly well liked).
I don't think additional Scorpenes are a buying tactic as any shipbuilder that is selected will most likely have to install new technology, recruit/train personnel and of course, have new suppliers. You avoid that whole problem if you go the Scorpene route. So yes, it kind of kills the P-75I at birth.
