Conventional Submarine Table March 15, 2022

Around every 15th day of the month I'll send out the Table below to give readers an opportunity to add short details and links to the gaps in knowledge in the Table.

Around 20th of the month (eg. March 20, 2022) I'll send out the updated list to Donors, who will get first opportunity to more directly discuss updates and other changes to the Table.

When translated to English, here is part of it “With a length of more than 80 meters, the new boats of the so-called Dakar class will be the largest submarines ever built in Germany.”

[4]  “...In any case, the trend is towards larger submarines like these,” explained Rolf Wirtz as shipyard director to THB [ http://www.thb.at/  ] (Daily Port Report). In the meantime, subs  with a displacement of 2,800 tonnes and more than 3,000 tonnes are being planned in the [TKMS] project department.”

[5]  https://marineschepen.nl/  "Type 212CD displacement is 2,500 tonnes (surfaced), and 2,800 tonnes (submerged). The submerged displacement of the Type 212CD E [enlarged or extended range?] (оffer for the Netherlands) is 3,200 tonnes.

Displacement of the 'Dolphin 3' / Dakar may be “3,400 tonnes. (minimum)." Rendering simplified, but - "Common Design" TKMS! Including sail/fin size...

[15]  http://gentleseas.blogspot.com/2015/10/south-korean-hhis-hds-400-small.html  SSEs (all-electric, no on-board charging), noting developments in South Korea (HDS400/500 LIB minisubs) and China (recently launched "Olympics" class minisub). Propulsion sources seem likely to be AIP, advanced batteries or a combination of the two.

Our estimation is that this class of sub will initially be a better-performed zero indiscretion littoral patrol/special ops sub, but as battery capacities increase through the 2030s and 2040s they will progressively acquire a level of bluewater capability with extended range and fast submerged transit.
