Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament UK subsequently reports, November 8/9, 2022:

“The Ministry of Defence said the incident on HMS Victorious happened six weeks ago [placing fire in late September 2022]

The blaze broke out in an electrical component in one of the submarine’s systems but carbon dioxide injectors built into the module extinguished it.

However, all crew were scrambled to tackle the fire and look for others and the sub’s commander had to surface the vessel in the North Atlantic.

After the fire was contained, Victorious returned to port at Faslane in Scotland.”

Pete Comment

Sister"ship" HMS Vanguard spending 7 years in drydock, over a radiation leak, has adversely impacted the major refit/overhaul schedules of the other 3 Vangard-class SSBNs, including HMS Victorious.

HMS Victorious's defective "electrical component" was highly likely a component long overdue for overhaul, even replacement.
